Independence Day is a Widely Celebrated National Holiday here in America, “Land of the Free”. I laugh every time I hear the phrase. Every year millions of Black People spend billions of dollars celebrating July 4th, America’s Independence, but I wonder if we know our history. On July 4, 1776, America would adopt the Declaration of Independence which would mark its Independence from Britain but whose Independence was it? The harsh reality is that while “Americans” were celebrating their Independence, Black People were still being beaten, raped, and tortured. While the “Bombs Burst in Air”, Africans in America would continue to be enslaved. The adoption of the Declaration of Independence meant nothing to Black people who would still suffer enslavement for almost 100 more years. So with that in mind, I ask just as Frederick Douglas asked in 1876, “What is July 4th to me?”

The Violent Xenophobic Racism in Ireland
At 9pm last Tuesday, 44-year-old Chinese doctor, Wu Youzhong, went to investigate the sound of breaking glass outside his home in Coleraine, County Londonderry, in Ireland. When he arrived at his front door, he saw that the window had been smashed. An intruder then attacked him so violently that he had to be admitted to hospital for several days, and required consultation from an eye specialist. Dr Wu’s wife, Luo Ruoyin, said, “I heard he was just screaming in pain and I was scared. He was just holding his head and covering his eyes and blood was just running down everywhere.” The police are treating the attack as racially motivated; the couple, who have a two-year-old daughter, are reported to be intending to move away from the area.
The Chinese community in Ireland has long been a target of racial discrimination. Anna Lo, an Alliance Party politician born in Hong Kong who was elected to the Ireland Assembly in 2007, was the first politician from an ethnic minority at national level in Ireland, as well as the first East Asian to be elected anywhere in Britain. Her campaign was dogged by violent racism – including death threats – to the extent that she had to carry a panic alarm as a precaution. One far-Right website published pornographic images of Chinese women, alongside derogatory references to Anna Lo. “People from ethnic minorities are very frightened,” she said. “I have never seen ethnic minorities so fearful in Ireland.”
the crumbling myth of white supremacy. white supremacy is violent. white supremacy is destructive. white supremacy is pervasive. white supremacy kills.
Trip Week: BJ Britt & Sami
I’ve woken up in that last position more times than I can count…..
I need “Youtube gurus” to stop being fake nutritionists just cause they’re skinny. I watched a video the other day of supposed “healthy meals” and they pulled up microwaveable oatmeal, like it ain’t full of processed sugar. Then gonna say it’s full of protein too. Ummm no, oatmeal is certainly NOT…
Florida city police department embedded with KKK members
July 21, 2014
Ann Hunnewell and her central Florida police officer husband knelt in the living room of a fellow officer’s home, with pillow cases as makeshift hoods over their heads. A few words were spoken and they, along with a half-dozen others, were initiated into the local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan, she says.
Last week, that initiation ceremony, which took place five years ago, stunned residents of the small town of Fruitland Park, who found out an investigative report linked two city officers with the secret hate society that once was violently active in the area. Ann Hunnewell’s ex-husband, George Hunnewell, was fired, and deputy chief David Borst resigned from the 13-member Fruitland Park Police Department. Borst has denied being a member.
James Elkins, a third officer who Ann Hunnewell says recruited her and her husband, resigned in 2010 after his Klan ties became public.
